Privacy first

SOBA is designed as a local-first Mac utility. Its core features work with content you choose to place in SOBA, such as files, folders, clipboard text, images, PDFs, URLs, screenshots, and other local items.

What SOBA processes

Depending on the features you use, SOBA may process file paths, clipboard content, screenshots, images, document metadata, URLs, text, and device-sharing information on your Mac.

Local processing

SOBA's core workflows are intended to happen locally on your Mac. Content you use with SOBA is not uploaded to a SOBA cloud service merely to support Drop, Later, Pin, Quick Capture, or contextual Actions.

Sharing

If you use Share, SOBA may transfer content to a destination you explicitly select. Where supported, SOBA is designed to prefer direct or local-first transfer behavior.

Clipboard

SOBA uses clipboard content only when you invoke clipboard-related features. Clipboard content is not intended to be used for advertising or profiling.

Files and folders

SOBA may retain references needed for features such as Drop or Later. SOBA should not modify or delete your original files unless you explicitly request an action that does so.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, SOBA may store supported preferences and pin data in your Apple iCloud account so those items can stay in sync across your Macs. This is optional and uses Apple's iCloud infrastructure rather than a SOBA-operated cloud account.

QR codes

When you create a QR code from text or a URL, SOBA encodes that content directly into the QR image. The receiving phone can read it with its Camera app and does not need a SOBA account or installation.

Permissions

macOS permissions may be requested for specific features. SOBA should request access only when the related feature is used.
